Project Name: SexGenLab Network
Grantee: Patrick Sweeney
Discipline: Critical Social Psychology
Funding Cycle: 2016-2017
White Paper: SGL_PDIG_WhitePaper
This project initiated the development of the SexGenLab Network—a digital member-based community comprised of GC-based social science researchers and local, national and global colleagues who share a critical scholarly lens on the study of sexuality and gender—to serve as a “bridge” between academia and the public sphere. SexGenLab is a group of GC-based psychologists who draw on critical theory and other social science disciplines. We are comprised of Dr. Deborah Tolman, faculty member of the Critical Social Psychology program at CUNY, and doctoral students. One main component of the SexGenLab network is a public-facing website (http://sexgenlab.org/) that “translates” critical social scientific research pertaining to contemporary controversies about sexuality and gender for press and public consumption This site, freely accessible to the public, provides information about our lab, as well as serving as a resource for rigorous, empirically-based analysis and information about sexuality and gender that directly engages with current public conversations (for example, state laws regarding transgender bathroom access and/or rape culture on college campuses). SexGenLab.org will begin publishing original content beginning Fall 2017. You can keep in touch by following us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/sexgenlab/) or Twitter (https://twitter.com/sexgenlab).
